Section F: Comprehension MCQ (2 marks)Read the passage below and answer questions 11 to 12. Ah Seng was an average Primary 5 student, a loner by nature. For the past few months, he was deeply troubled. Three older students in the school were making his life miserable. He was the subject of their bully. It began inconspicuously when he accidentally bumped into one of them one day. The bigger boy pushed him on the shoulder even after he had apologised. Soon, the other two friends of the aggressor joined in by making insults and calling him 'names'. Taken aback, Ah Seng repeated his apology several times more before running off. The next encounter took place weeks later in the toilet. Ah Seng recognised them as they stepped in. Immediately, he felt nervous but did his best to remain calm. The gang also remembered him. After whispering to one another, they began to walk over to Ah Seng. Then very quickly and without warning, one of them grabbed an empty plastic pail lying at the corner and forced it over Ah Seng's head. Just as quickly, another grabbed the broom from the same place and began using its handle to knock the pail repeatedly. Ah Seng was very frightened. He used all his strength to try to remove the pail from his head but he was simply overpowered. He screamed and begged them to stop but to no avail. Their laughter and the noise from the knocking drowned his cries. This went on for about five minutes before the gang left in joy. Back home Ah Seng related the incident to his single-mother. But instead of getting sympathy and support, he felt disappointed when his mother rebuked him with, "Why do they pick on you and not others? You must have done something wrong." Undaunted, he told himself that he would not let this bullying continue. He had to do something to stop it. A fortnight passed. One day he found himself in the toilet again. In came the 3-member gang. They must have kept an eye on him waiting for the right moment to strike. Ah Seng tried to get out but was prevented from doing so. Again they put the pail over his head and started to beat it with the broom handle. Ah Seng let out a shout so loud that it sounded like thunder. Immediately, two male teachers rushed into the toilet and caught the trio red-handed in their mischieve. You see, Ah Seng had wisely told his teacher about his predicament and together they hatched a plan to catch the bullies in their act. 11.Ah Seng was troubled because he ___.
